The Right Way to Clean Your Blinds (Aluminum and Vinyl)

Before we begin with the tips, it’s critical to note that there are various materials for blinds, and they each have specific cleaning instructions. These tips are planned for aluminum and vinyl only, so we do not recommend applying them to other materials. 

First, tilt the slats down just enough to reach each slat. Next, vacuum a few slats at a time in a side-to-side or top-to-bottom motion. It would be best to do so with a soft dusting-brush tool attached to your vacuum cleaner. Then, wipe your slats with a slightly damp microfiber cloth. Finally, open the slats again and let them air-dry. 

How to Clean Your Shades 

Cellular Shades

If you’re a cellular shade owner, we have good news for you: they’re very easy to clean. Set the dusting tool on your vacuum and give your shades a low-suction dusting. If your shade has any stains, you can remove them by dabbing (don’t rub!) the fabric with lukewarm water and mild dish detergent using a sponge.

First, remove any dirt or dust with the soft brush attached to your vacuum. If your shade is stained, use a soft cloth or sponge dipped in water and dish soap to gently wipe the fabric. You can carefully dry your shades with a hair dryer if you don’t want to expose them to the sun.
